This piece is purely autobiographical. As a long time swim instructor, floating is a basic skill a teach and reinforce in my lessons. Opposed to the difficulty of learning, floating now is quit enjoyable.

During my time in St. Petersburg, Florida, I lived, biking distance to the Gulf of Mexico, where I would frequently go and float.  This is a life sized version of that experience. The wall creates a natural waterline.

By setting the figure and making only certain body parts visible and painted them tonal.  Tonal in the sense that the light waves reflected on exposed body parts.

The reflection is similar to looking at a pool and observing the patterns the sun would make on the bottom of the pool.
