This boy is paired with ‘Annoyance’. He is being pulled back by the child leash. I have an issue with this tool to control children. I believe this tool is convenient, but perpetuates a disconnection with their child. I wanted to push the balance of this piece. By creating a pull from the upper back, the weight is torqued to his back leg, almost making him fall backwards. The arms reach out in open intrigue, but is forced back by the harness around him, also counter-balancing the upper back. I was thinking of the idea of the irresistible force paradox. What happens when an immoveable object meets an unstoppable force? I wanted this child to look like a ball of energy. I reinforce this energy with the muddy shoes, scuffed knee and ice cream. The child is in a full sprint forward, when he gets pulled back by the lease. This is in contrast to the mother, as the immoveable object.
